Chapel of St Mary Magdalen (The Leper Chapel), Ripon

Description
A rare survival of a medieval leper hospital, last restored in 1989, containing medieval pavement with Roman medallion, low-side/leper window and stone altar. It was established in the 12th century to care for lepers and blind priests. For the Heritage Open Day, the building will host the Old Codling Feast, an 18th century tradition with tasting of apples, cake, single variety juices and ciders to identify. There will also be guided tours.

From bypass fllw 'city centre'. Turn R at lights, chapel is 300 metres on R.

BUS - The venue is around 15 mins walk from Ripon Bus station.

Access
PDA - There is a ramp into the chapel offering wheelchair access to most areas, but it is a small building so there is limited space inside.

This is a small building which can get busy on Open Days.
