Lydford Gorge

Description
3 mile circular walk through lush oak wooded steep-sided river gorge, with its fascinating history and many legends. See the spectacular White Lady Waterfall, pass over the tumbling water at Tunnel Falls and watch the river bubble in the Devil's Cauldron. There's an abundance of wildlife to spot, including woodland birds, dragonflies darting above the river and trout swimming in the quieter stretches.
Directions
7 miles south of the A30. Halfway between Okehampton and Tavistock, 1 mile from the A386 opposite the Dartmoor Inn. Car parks at both entrances to the gorge.

BUS: route 86 Plymouth to Tavistock. 118 Beacon Bus Tavistock to Okehampton.
Opening Times
Saturday 11th September: 1000-1700 (last admission 1630)
Access
Gorge is not accessible except the old GWR railway path to the bird hide (1/4-mile long)
Additional Information
Tea-rooms at both entrances to the gorge serving light lunches, afternoon teas and ice-cream.
