Claremont Landscape Garden, Portsmouth Road, Esher, Surrey, KT10 9JG
This eighteen-century landscape garden is a green sanctuary in the heart of Surrey and within easy reach of London. There are acres of open space to explore, enjoy a picnic or take a walk. Having been the pleasure gardens of royalty, it has seen lots of fascinating characters in its time. It's a place where real princesses have spent hours playing and uncovering secret places. There are some really unique and unexpected things to see, including the turf amphitheatre, the serpentine lake, the pavilion, the grotto, the Belvedere Tower and the Camellia Terrace. No visit would be complete without popping into our tearoom, where a tempting array of homemade cakes and light lunches is available. Our shop sells a selection of cards and gifts. There's lots for children to do; with a natural play area and a playground. You can take refuge in the Thatched Cottage with toys, games, picnic rugs and umbrellas to borrow; not forgetting our waterfowl on the lake who eagerly await tasty treats. We also have available a special map for children.
This event took place in September 2013 and the entry is now archived.
We do have some steep slopes here that although accessible for most buggies can be difficult for wheelchairs to negotiate.
We’re on the east side of the A307 Portsmouth Road. Our entrance is within easy reach of both the A3 and M25; follow the brown tourist board signs for Claremont Landscape Garden once you exit. To plan your journey please use the Google Maps widget below, or download our PDF of detailed directions from the A3 and M25. Map link.
