The castle, gardens and parkland are open with free entry on Saturday 13 September in celebration of Heritage Open Days. Marking the centenary of the Great War, experience a weekend of the First World War at Croft. Learn the stories of the 4 members of the Croft family who went to war. Find out all about what happened to them and the castle during this time and what life was like on the home-front in the Croft community. Discover the story of Horses at War inside the stables. Talks, tours, clothing, memorabilia, displays and demonstrations from a tragic but not forgotten era. We've got a natural play area, mini castle play area, dressing up, trails and lots of hands on and interactive stories to discover. Baby changing facilities are available, breast feeding is welcome and childrens' or half portions are served for everything on the menu.

Most of the castle is accessible. Cellars and attics are not accessible for wheelchairs.
