West Yorkshire Archive Service Wakefield, Registry of Deeds, Newstead Road, Wakefield, West Yorkshire, WF1 2DE
The West Yorkshire Archive Service cares for millions of records of all kinds dating from the twelfth century to the present day – over 800 years of history! As part of Heritage Open weekend we will be throwing open the doors of our Wakefield office on Saturday 14th September between 1.00pm and 4.00pm and encouraging visitors to take a closer look at some of the historic documents housed in the building. Alongside a series of short talks during the afternoon, some of the rare and captivating documents held in Wakefield’s Archives will be on display. Visitors will be given the opportunity to take a fascinating behind-the-scenes tour of the West Riding Registry of Deeds including our conservation studio. Experts will be on hand to answer questions about caring for photographs and documents as well as helping visitors discover what is held in the archive collections.
This event took place in September 2013 and the entry is now archived.
There is limited free on-site parking at Wakefield Archives. This is a drop-in event, no pre-booking necessary.
