This talk by Professor Niel Sinyard will explore the life and work of J. Arthur Rank who is, without doubt one of the most important figures in the history of British film. In his talk, Professor Sinyard will survey the film career of J. Arthur Rank from its origins in the mid 1930s to its peak in the immediate post war years. Certainly for lovers and scholars of British film, J.Arthur is one of Hull's greatest sons, for his contribution to his country's cinematic culture and heritage was, and remains, of incalculable value.
