The Old School, the Pyramid Mausoleum and the Tower, Blickling Estate, Aylsham, Norwich, Norfolk, NR11 6NF
The Blickling Estate has a wealth of period buildings, which are not normally open to the public. THE OLD SCHOOL: Have a look inside the old School, built in 1867 for local children by Lady Constance Lothian, owner of the Blickling Estate at the time. THE MAUSOLEUM: You'll also be able to see inside the mausoleum. In this tomb resides the bodies of the 2nd Earl of Buckinghamshire and his two wives. It's almost unique in the UK - from outside it's a pyramid, inside it's a dome. THE TOWER: Built in the 1770s, the Tower was designed for watching horse racing in Tower Park. It has a great view from the roof. It's now a very popular holiday cottage and booked for most of the year.
This event took place in September 2013 and the entry is now archived.
The Mausoleum is a 20-30 minute walk from the main car park. The Tower has steep stairs and is not suitable for those with limited mobility.
Max 30 people per tour/event. Please note that Blickling Hall & Gardens do not form part of the Heritage Open Day free offer. Additional admission charges apply (free to NT members). But you are able to access all three sites without entering Blickling Hall & Gardens.
