South Foreland Lighthouse has a fascinating story to tell: a beacon of safety, guiding ships past the infamous Goodwin Sands: the first lighthouse powered by electricity and the site of the first international radio transmission. After enjoy tea and home-made cakes in Mrs Knotts, a tearoom with all the charm of a bygone age. South Foreland Lighthouse has a variety of family friendly activities on offer this year. Limited vehicular access is available for disabled visitors, please call in advance to arrange this. The Lighthouse itself also has limited access however the ground floor does offer a fully interactive experience for visitors that are unable to climb the tower.

The Lighthouse is only accessible from the White Cliffs of Dover. Park at the Visitor Centre and follow the 2 mile path across the cliff-top. Map link.
