St Peter's Church, College Street, Ipswich, Suffolk, IP1 1XF
St Peter’s by the Waterfront has displays about the history of St Peter’s Church in the town of Ipswich from the 12th century to the present day as well as the Ipswich Charter Hangings made to commemorate the 800 year anniversary of the granting of the Royal Charter to Ipswich and the beginning of the new Millennium, which depict Ipswich through the ages. The building contains a great number of artefacts including the 800 year old rare Tournai Marble Font, the magnificent East Window and the many architectural features by Cardinal Thomas Wolsey when St Peter’s was the chapel for his short-lived Cardinal College in the 16th century. The weekend of 14th and 15th September will feature a small selection of craft stalls and live music from local groups. We will also have additional displays from the Over Stoke History Group and a vintage camera display.
This event took place in September 2013 and the entry is now archived.
