Aykley Heads, Durham, County Durham, DH1 5TU
This family friendly museum is set in charming grounds just outside Durham City Centre. The Durham Light Infantry Museum tells the story of one of the most famous county regiments in the British Army. More importantly, it tells the story of ordinary people who lived extraordinary lives. Durham Art Gallery on the top floor will be showing an exhibition of photographs depicting the many aspects of the Durham Miners' Gala. The building is modern and opened in 1969 on the site of the last working colliery in Durham City. The museum is family-friendly and accessible. Enjoy free entry plus special activities: object handling and other participatory events throughout the day.
This event took place in September 2013 and the entry is now archived.
Fully accessible for visitors with disabilities.
We are close the centre of Durham City, between the railway station and County Hall. Map link.
