Heritage Open Days 2009 was undoubtedly the most successful event in the fifteen-year history of England’s annual celebration of local architecture, history and culture. A record 4,100 properties and events – almost 400 more than in 2008 – attracted over 1 million visits across four days. Eight years of geographical and demographical expansion have consolidated Heritage Open Days’ position as England’s leading voluntary cultural event.
