Take 5 with the Team

Well here we are, back from the winter break, poised, catlike, on the festival path for 2021. Flexibility is the key word, so we can leap in whatever direction is needed to support our wonderful community and deliver a fab, fun, safe festival for all. It’s a little chilly out there (snow outside my window still!) so why not grab a cuppa and take 5 for a bit of behind the festival scenes chat.

This month we’ve been putting together a pack of inspiration for this year’s Edible England theme, checking insurance, and planning meetings with and for the organiser community. General Festival Business. In addition though, each of us has had some wider projects to consider…

New Wave

As I type Andy is working through a HUGE pile of applications for the next group of organisers to take on the New Wave challenge. I was able to sit in on some of the sessions with last year’s brilliant crew, who’s plans whilst delayed by you-know-what are going to be all the brighter for the wait. So watch this space!

Teeing up the tech

Not only has Alex been setting up the technical tweaks needed to launch registration in March. He is also working on exciting plans to revamp this entire website! Stay tuned, there will be much more on this as the year unfolds – and we will need YOUR help to make it the best it can be.

Cross country connections

And for me, well, it’s a busy week connecting with people across England… and beyond! First up I’m ‘Zooming’ off to Spain for the first European Forum on Cultural Heritage & Gender. Sharing the ongoing legacy of our work highlighting the stories of Extraordinary Women that began in 2018.  After that I’m looking forward to talking with people working in High Street Heritage Action Zones across England. Our festival can do so much to bring communities together and reveal the potential in everyday places. It’s already happening in towns like Weston-Super-Mare and Lowestoft, fingers crossed we can light some more sparks across the country.
