Port Sunlight Open Village

Explore behind the scenes of Port Sunlight Village in a truly unique way! Take a peek inside the homes of village residents and the public buildings to discover modern living in Port Sunlight.
Come and experience Port Sunlight like never before! Step inside the homes of village residents and discover what life is like in Port Sunlight today. Visit some of the most architecturally significant buildings across the village including Bridge Cottage, once the home of William Lever.
At Bridge Cottage you will hear stories and tales of the village from staff and volunteers in period costume. Why not lend a helping hand and join in with a favourite Victorian pastime of rag rug making!
Pick up a trail from Port Sunlight Museum and follow the open village route around the village.
Open Village Buildings and Bridge Cottage opening times: 11am – 3pm.
No booking required. Due to the nature of this event, we cannot guarantee full accessibility to all buildings.

Access Information: Please note that we cannot guarantee full accessibility throughout all the Open Village Home and Public Buildings. Port Sunlight Museum and Bridge Cottage Community Hub are both fully accessible venues.
Additional information: Max 20 people per tour/event. Event Duration: . You will be entering into the residential homes of Port Sunlight Village Residents, we ask you to be mindful, patient and respectful of their properties. Depending on the size of the building open, we will be enforcing a maximum number of people per location at any one time. We will have staff and volunteers on site to ensure this is managed in a timely manner.
Directions: Port Sunlight Museum is located a 5 minute walk from Merseyrail Bebington Station. Bridge Cottage Community Hub is located a 30 second walk from Port Sunlight Train Station and directly across from the iconic Dell Bridge. There is ample free parking throughout the village.

Take a walking tour around Port Sunlight and discover the fascinating story of William Lever. Unlock the meaning behind the diverse architecture and hear the stories of village life past and present!
Why not discover Port Sunlight up-close and in a very unique way? Take a walking tour around Port Sunlight village and uncover the intriguing story of William Lever, the architecturally interesting buildings, open green spaces, tree lined vistas and village life, past and present.
Tours depart from Port Sunlight Museum at 11.30am and 2pm. Each tour lasts approximately 90 minutes. This is an all-weather event and will take place rain or sunshine!

A nostalgic look at home life in Port Sunlight throughout the years! Touch, smell and talk through our special handling objects to relive the memories and share your own unique stories.
Come along to our reminiscence workshop and take a nostalgic look back at home life in Port Sunlight. We’ll provide photographs and handling objects that you can touch, smell and talk about together to inspire recollections. Come along and meet people, share memories and enjoy a chat over tea or coffee.
Afterwards, why not join us for a short walking tour of the village to explore some of Port Sunlight’s landmarks.
This is a drop in session. The reminiscence workshop will take at Bridge Cottage Community Hub, between 11am – 12.30pm. The walking tour will take place at 12.30pm – 1pm.
