The SPACE is a disused site owned by Network Rail which presents artists' temporary installations and events from March to October. The SPACE has evolved into a natural wildlife site where buddleia, daisies, poppies and blackberry bushes border the site.
Inspired by the theme 'Heritage and Nature'. artist Diana Burch's installation 'Still, Life' will be in The SPACE from 11.08-10.09, visible daily from dawn until dusk.
The artist will use woven heat treated plastics to encompass ideas about natural growth occurring in The SPACE. The web-like structures will also suggest communities and histories, connecting and interconnecting as it develops. Several structures using lightweight inorganic materials will explore nature's encroachment across this uninhabited location.
Diana Burch will lead 2 participatory drop-in workshops, suitable for children and adults, where visitors can explore various materials and processes to create additional structures to add to 'Still, Life'. The workshops take place on Saturday 9 September and Sunday 10 September
