St George’s Church was built at the start of the twentieth century when the first Lord Leverhulme commissioned architect Lomax Simpson to build a church in the Norman style.
A grade II* listed building, the church has outstanding Romanesque-style carvings and impressive stained glass windows and of course there is a carving of St George and the Dragon
