St Michael's Church reflects the life on the Solway dating back to Norman times. The Norman Font, the old bells of 1626, with their swashbuckling story, and the variety of stained glass windows are all worth seeing. Look for stones from the Roman Wall and smugglers graves. Modern embroideries reflect many aspects of the Church including the Victorian tiles in the sanctuary. Recent work will be on display, particularly kneelers at the sanctuary rail illustrating bird life on the Solway and cushions in the choir stalls illustrating village life in the parish past and present. Bowness on Solway School will also be displaying recent art work.
