Heritage Open Days 2017 is… OPEN

It’s official; registration is open and Heritage Open Days 2017 is underway.  Here in the London office, we’re looking to build on the successes of last year’s event, and make 2017 the most diverse and inclusive festival ever, with four flagship arts events and a focus on LGBTQ+ themed events.

In 2017, Heritage Open Days’ primary aim is to tell All Our Stories.  You’ll see this phrase on our Facebook page, as a hashtag on Twitter, on our marketing materials and press releases.  We know that our festival is made up of thousands of individual stories, and this year we want people to tell them in diverse, creative ways – from guided walks to digital installations or improvised plays.  We’re focusing on LGBTQ+ stories, on those that bring Heritage and Nature together and those that have links to Conservation Areas.  We want to hear from everyone, in every corner of the country, because we know that every one of our thousands of organisers and volunteers have their own unique story to tell.

You’ll be hearing a lot more about All our Stories in the weeks and months to come.  In the meantime, if you’ve a story you want to tell us, write to annabelle.thorpe@heritageopendays.org.uk.  As the Media Manager, she’s always on the lookout for unique and fascinating events that will make journalists re-evaluate what they think and feel about heritage.  If that sounds like yours, do get in touch.

Heritage Open Days 2017 is going to be a festival to remember.  We hope you’re as excited as we are.
