HODS: The Future

Next year, Heritage Open Days will be 25 years old – the perfect opportunity to reflect on and celebrate all that we, our organisers and volunteers have achieved.  But it’s also time, we feel, to take stock of where we are now, and ensure our festival continues to go from strength to strength over the next quarter of a century.

We’re beginning that process now, starting with a brand consultation that explores every aspect of how we look, sound and feel.  We're thrilled to be working with HemingwayDesign (many of you will know Wayne’s work from Red or Dead, Festival of Making, Dreamland and numerous Vintage Car Boot Sales), and they – like us – are keen for the widest cross-section of people to take part.  Whether you are a regular HODs visitor, a first-timer this year, or have yet to visit an event, we want to hear from you.

The first stage is an online survey, which you can access here: www.yourhods.co.uk

We want to make clear that nothing will change immediately – next year’s festival will remain exactly as it always has.  What happens after that is very much open to debate, but although certain aspects of how we look and feel may change, the central ethos of Heritage Open Days – a free festival that allows local communities to explore and share their histories – will remain exactly the same.

We’re hugely excited by this opportunity to ensure that Heritage Open Days is in the best possible shape going forward, and very much hope you will be a part of the consultation process.
