Love Architecture and Heritage Open Days

The RIBA (Royal Institute of British Architects) is partnering with Heritage Open Days for a third year to deliver architectural content for the annual HODs Festival. The aim of the partnership is to engage the wider public with the stories of the nation’s buildings, past, present and future.

Working with branches

In recent years, RIBA branches (architect-led committees) have worked together with RIBA regional offices and HODs sites on a number of activities including talks, tours and family events; some events have also been held in RIBA Award-winning buildings.  This activity has been promoted using the RIBA’s Love Architecture outreach marque, which is also used to identify architectural content on the HODs website.

It is hoped that branches will again take part in Heritage Open Days, with RIBA regional offices providing a ‘brokering’ service between branches and HODs partners who have expressed an interest in involving architects in their HODs programmes.

How it will work this year

  • RIBA regional offices will identify up to two HODs ‘hubs’ per region (HODs partners with multiple events taking place in a given area/region), with which branch members can engage to deliver activity as part of Heritage Open Days.
  • RIBA regional offices will respond to individual HODs venue/volunteer enquiries via the  email account on a case by case basis, and put HODs venues in touch with architects/branches, as appropriate. To find out more, please get in touch using the above email, stating where your site is located.
