Artist / innovator / storyteller? We need you!
An exciting opportunity to work with local organisers across England to shine a light on some unsung stories of extraordinary women.
Building on the success of our inaugural commissions in 2017, we're seeking an artist or artist collaboration to work with local organisers across England to explore under-represented histories, stories and heritage. This year the focus is women’s history and heritage (to mark the centenary of the Representation of the People Act and 90 years since Equal Franchise), highlighting marginalised, unknown or misunderstood female stories.
We already have some fabulous suggestions of tales to tell, from Licoricia, the medieval businesswoman, to Beatrice Shilling, a motor racing engineer who's work helped the RAF take flight. But we need someone to creatively bring the pieces of the puzzle together, to connect locally but also on a national scale. As with Unsung Stories 2017, this project should generate new audiences, creative connections and local partners.
