Heritage Open Days is part of the wider European Heritage Days, so participating can help unlock doors to wider funding opportunities for local groups. In recent years Love OswestryOxford Open Doors and The Mills Archive Trust have all been recipients of these special grants. The winners of this year's European Heritage Days Stories grants have just been announced and we're delighted to share that local organisers from Merseyside, Powered by Hip Hop CIC, are among them.

The grant of €10,000 will develop the Breaking Heritage Ambassadors project, building on the legacy of the group's previous work and participation in Heritage Open Days. Young people will be trained as Youth Heritage Ambassadors to document oral histories, photographs and artefacts linked to local Breaking culture. The project will also strengthen cultural ties between communities in St Helens and Stuttgart, demonstrating how contemporary cultural practices form part of Europe’s living heritage.

Huge congratulations to all of the successful projects across Europe and the Powered by Hip Hop team! We're excited to see what they have in store for this year's festival and beyond.
