37 Tanner Row: Behind the Scenes with Historic England at a Victorian Railway Hotel
37 Tanner Row, York, North Yorkshire, YO1 6WP
From the extraordinary, to the everyday, our historic places and spaces matter to us all. That’s why at Historic England we work together with people across England, to discover, protect and bring new life to our shared historic environment.
On Wednesday 17th September, visitors will be able to see inside the regional offices of both Historic England and English Heritage, housed in a former Victorian railway hotel and now a Grade II listed building. We’re opening our doors and inviting you in to learn more about the wide range of our work across Yorkshire and beyond, from revealing ancient archaeological sites with aerial photography, to using robot dogs to survey fire-damaged cathedrals, and finding creative new uses for much-loved historic buildings.
Drop in between 11am and 5.30pm to enjoy free refreshments and meet our friendly teams, who will be on hand to talk about their work and answer your questions. At 12pm, 2.30pm and 5.30pm, join us for a short talk exploring the role of this building in York’s railway revolution.
Please note that talks must be pre-booked via Eventbrite.
