As part of Loughborough's Heritage Open Weekend on the theme of architecture come and view the 36 A2 Sheets of the 1850 contract to build the present School building. Also learn about one of the school’s most famous alumni, World War II fighter pilot Johnnie Johnson and there will also be information on display about the school during WWI and WWII. Visitors will be able to learn about 220 dates in the School's History and there will be the opportunity to see never before seen materials from the School’s archive in the recently refurbished 1852 Schoolroom. This year celebrates 30 years since the School celebrated its quincenternary with a memorable day in London and an exhibition will reflect this. Another exhibition will celebrate the influence of Canon George Briggs on the School, especially writing the School Hymn 101 years ago. The Tower is a landmark that dominates the Loughborough skyline and will be open, especially for the day for visitors to climb. After visiting, site visitors will be given the ‘Town Trail’ of sites associated with the School which can also be accessed online by QR code.
