6 Poor Travellers' House
The Six Poor Travellers House, 97 High Street, Rochester, Kent, ME1 1LX
There will access to the house and courtyard garden. The house has a museum room and access to 3 of the original travellers' rooms to the rear. The house which was the subject of Charles Dickens' 7 Poor Travellers also features exhibits dedicated to the great man himself. The House which is now managed by Richard Watts Charities was an Almshouse for Travellers until just after the second world war and the open day will give access for visitors to a variety of exhibits. The Almshouse which was established following the death of Richard Watts in 1579 acts as a shrine to the great man who left a legacy which lives on in Rochester and the surrounding area.

Accessibility details
As the building was established as an Almshouse in the early part of the 17th Century it is not accessible to those with mobility difficulties. There are also low doorways and ceilings, as well as a number of internal steps throughout the part of the house open to the public.
