Not only is 21 Portland Place one of London’s Georgian gems, it’s also the home of the Association of Anaesthetists and the Anaesthesia Heritage Centre!

Explore the richly decorated rooms of this 18th-century townhouse while learning about the world of anaesthesia and the vital role of anaesthetists. Whether you are an architecture-lover or medical history aficionado, there’s something here for you!

Experience the history of this Georgian residence come to life on a guided tour, or explore the richly decorated rooms on your own using our Bloomberg Connects audio guide.

Get hands-on with medicine during interactive activities for all ages! Our very own anaesthetists will be there to guide you.

*By underground:* The nearest tube stations are Oxford Circus (Bakerloo, Central, and Victoria lines), Regent’s Park (Bakerloo line), and Great Portland Street (Circle, Metropolitan and Hammersmith & City lines). The closest stations with step-free access are Warren Street (Victoria line only) and Bond Street (Jubilee line only). *By bus:* These buses stop close to the building: 7, 8, 10, 18, 25, 27, 30, 55, 73, 88, 98, 176, 205, 553, C2. Find out the best way to get to us by bus with Transport for London’s journey planner. *By train:* If you are travelling by train, the nearest stations are Euston, King’s Cross and King’s Cross St Pancras. *By bike:* There is a Santander Cycles docking station at either end of Portland Place. There is bike storage at the museum if you are travelling on your own bike, but please note the storage is accessed via stairs.

There is a portable ramp available to access the building. You can access this by pressing the access button outside the main entrance or by calling reception at 020 7631 1650. There is a lift on the ground floor that will give you access to all floors.
