A one-hour stroll around Saltwell Park, exploring its fascinating history, hosted by Ian Daley.

Friends of Saltwell Park presents the Heritage Open Day Heritage Walk 2025; take a stroll through the finest Victorian park in the North East and learn about the stained-glass manufacturer William Wailes who designed his own mansion in a landscaped garden that became Saltwell Park. The walk, led by local historian and Chair of the Friends of Saltwell Park Ian Daley, will include many of the 12 Listed buildings and structures in Saltwell Park and the changes that have occurred in the nearly 150 years since it was opened in 1876.

The walk will start at 1100 on Saturday 13 September from the main entrance near the Little Theatre at the East Park Road/Saltwell View junction (What3Words would be meant.pitch.guess) and will take approximately an hour.
