Discover Northamptonshire Tourism Hub, Rushden Lakes, Rushden, Northamptonshire, NN10 6FH

  • 18 Sep 2025
  • In person
  • Pre-booking required

Join the Discover Northamptonshire Tourism Hub for a talk with local medievalist Ez Pavey about the history of the iconic Geddington Cross. Why is it nationally significant? Why was it built in Geddington? What does it symbolise? What is its story?

For this year’s theme of architecture, Discover Northamptonshire is hosting a talk on one of the most important and yet forgotten about pieces of Northamptonshire’s medieval architecture – The Geddington Cross.

Situated in a small village outside of Kettering, the Geddington Cross is the result of a medieval love story which has endured within the cross until the present day.

Join local medievalist Ez Pavey as they explain the national significance of this inconspicuous piece of architecture, how it connects Northamptonshire to the rest of the country, and the story of why it was constructed in the first place.

This is a free talk but pre-booking is essential. The talk will last for approximately one hour.
