This small exhibition explores the owners and lives of some of these objects, which were used for celebration by the public in both Civic and Church settings.

The standing salt pictured is made in London, 1903 It is a Copy of The Reade Salt, by Wm Cobbold, Norwich, 1568-9, Given by Peter Reade to the City in his will among other very important Charitable gifts.

The Thistle Cup, Silver-gilt, London, 1543/4 It is the earliest piece of post-Reformation plate in a Norwich Church St Peter Mancroft Collection

Featuring a Tudor and Elizabethan silver gilt-covered Communion cup at St Peter Mancroft and copies of the most iconic of the Norwich Civic Silver, this small exhibition explores the owners and lives of some of these objects, which were used for celebration by the public in both Civic and Church settings. They are the continuity and cohesion of the communities.

The MRDC gallery was completed in 2018 and contains one of only four 'bell ringing simulators' in the world. Its bell tower is world famous because in 1715 the first ever peal was rung. You will see both.
