A Walk Through Wartime Norwich

Upper Close, Norwich, Norfolk, NR1 4DH

  • Multiple dates available
  • In person
  • Pre-booking required

Join this walking tour as we consider the city's preparation for hostilities during World War Two; how the inhabitants coped with aerial bombardments and daily life thereafter including the impact of the Friendly Invasion.

The Friendly Invasion saw the Second Air Division of the 8th United States Army Air Forces (USAAF) operating from 20 US bases around Norwich between 1942 and 1945. On this walking tour the era will be evoked by contemporary photographs, letters and diary extracts as well as readings from interviews with a wide range of people who lived during this tumultuous period.

This tour is part of Silver Wings: The US Army Air Forces in WWII Norfolk.
