Wham Stadium, Livingstone Road, Accrington, Lancashire, BB5 5BX
The tour will provide a behind-the-scenes glimpse and the chance to see Stanley’s timeline of history and learn more about the club's fantastic history and the stories of the people. The tours will be led by Accrington Stanley’s Supporter Liaison Officer, Robert Houseman, who will provide a unique insight into one of the original founder members of the Football League, dating back to 1888.
Accrington Stanley moved into the Wham Stadium (known to many as the Crown Ground after the pub that adjoins it) in 1970, and it is currently one of the smallest stadiums in the Football League. Since moving to their current site, they have gradually started climbing the League again. Accrington Stanley, Who Are They? It is a well-known slogan that was used in an advert by the Milk Marketing Board. It features two young Liverpool FC fans. One tells the other that star Liverpool player Ian Rush had told him that if he didn’t drink milk, he would only be good enough to play for Accrington Stanley. The other fan asks, ‘Accrington Stanley, who are they?’ The first boy replies, ‘Exactly.
The Official Accrington Stanley Supporters Trust have recently commissioned a mural of the club which will be incorporated into the tour.
