A Priest ministering in Childwall is recorded in the Domesday Book of l086. All Saints is a Grade One listed building. Although the oldest part of the building is 14th century, Saxon stones can be found in the Church Porch.

We look forward to welcoming you to All Saints in 2025. The church has associations with the Norris family of Speke Hall and once contained a family chapel. The Norris brasses are dated 1524.
The oldest part of the Church are the porch and the remains of a 14th Century wall.

All Saints contains a number of hatchments and memorials around the church as well as a board which confirms the church's loyalty to King Charles 2nd after the Restoration following the Civil War. The organ gallery at the back of the Church is all that remains of galleries which also went down the south and north aisle. The organ itself was made by Wills and Son and was donated by the Gladstone family.
The tower was rebuilt in 1811 and stands 47 feet from the ground, the steeple rises a further 47 feet. The views from the tower are breathtaking. The tower also contains a ring of 6 bells and the church clock which was purchased from Thomas Green of Liverpool.

Heritage Weekend is one of the few times in the year that the tower is open to the public. The opening of the tower is weather dependant.

The churchyard contains the grave of the first Bishop of Liverpool, J.C. Ryle and Commonwealth War Graves as well as the graves of many notable Liverpool families. The war memorial was restored in 2023 and re-sited in Church from its previous position in the Church Porch. The revolving Lych gate is an unusual feature not seen in many churches.
