The history of football in Alnwick goes back to medieval times, and after five hundred years the origins are still celebrated in the annual match - Scoring the Hales. Association Football in the town has a history of almost 150 years, with a complex family tree of different clubs, changing pitches, and a number of local heroes. Alnwick have punched well above their weight in the Ladies game, and Junior football is thriving with 22 teams, their own coaches, pitches, stand and clubhouse named in honour of England International, Lucy Bronze, who won began her journey with the Alnwick juniors squad.
