Join the Bucks Family History Society for an interesting and informative talk on getting started with researching your past!

Dave Foster takes us through the key records used in family history research. Using examples from his own family and research he builds a family tree using census, parish registers, birth, marriage and death certificates, newspapers, wills and monumental inscriptions. This practical example shows how you can piece together the jigsaw that is your family history. This talk should help you if you have recently started your research or just want to make sure you have not missed out on how to use any of the basic building blocks.

Profile: Dave Foster has been researching his family for 35 years. He is currently vice-chairman of the Buckinghamshire Family History Society and has instructed beginners at the Society's annual Open Day for over 15 years. Dave started his career in the Actuarial Dept. of a local insurance company and for over 35 years has worked in IT, now specialising in credit card processing.
