This brisk walk round brickworking history traces the hidden past of one of Preston's most important industries. The 3 mile linear walk takes an indirect route ending at the HODs event at Dobcroft Nature Reserve in Ingol.

Around Preston is a crescent of 'good brick clay' and it has been exploited for centuries to build the growing town. Most brickworks were temporary and disappeared as the town expanded, though a few were still working within living memory.

This walk will shed light on brickworking on the west of Preston during a brisk 3 mile route connecting a lost piece of brickmaking history to the site of the former Cottam brickworks at Dobcroft nature reserve. On the way we'll reveal the locations of past brickmaking history as well as looking at brick buildings along the way.

The walk ends at Intact in Ingol and their Heritage Open Days event, Dobcroft - Bricks, Bugs & Backstories event, giving you plenty of time to explore more brickmaking history there.
