Come along to Tewkesbury Abbey and see the wide variety of marks which were used to protect people from evil.

Explore Tewkesbury Abbey in a different way, viewing apotropaic (evil averting) marks around the Abbey, including spaces only accessible on tours - the south stairs and lantern chamber.

The tour will be run by Brian Hoggard who runs the website www.apotropaios.co.uk, is author of Magical House Protection: The Archaeology of Counter-Witchcraft (Berghahn 2019) and is a Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries.

The tour will involve moving around the abbey and climbing spiral staircases to some of the upper rooms. Please ensure you are physically able to climb the stairs before booking on. Please note that whilst dogs are allowed in the Abbey, they will not be able to attend this tour.
