Discover the remarkable lives of Mrs and Miss Daniell founders of the Soldiers’ Home in Aldershot.

Mrs Daniell, a philanthropist, was asked to ‘adopt Aldershot’ in its early days as an army town. Mrs Daniell moved here with her daughter in 1862 and together they raised funds to open a place for soldiers. A home from home, somewhere soldiers could find a warm welcome, enjoy the simple comforts of tea and cake in good company and gentle pastimes away from the pubs and brothels.

So come with us back to Victorian Aldershot as we tour the town and hear of Mrs and Miss Daniell’s achievements.
