AudaTours Gloucester Audio Tour: No More Twist
Gloucester Cathedral, Gloucester, Gloucestershire, GL1 2DR
Follow 15 stops with headphones and the app as you walk Gloucester from the Cathedral West Front to Barrack Square.
The tour runs to about 1 hour of audio, or around 3 hours in total including walking.
It begins among the cathedral front and great cloister, then threads past St Oswald’s Priory, College Green, College Court and the Infirmary Arches, before moving through Three Cocks Lane and the Folk of Gloucester to Westgate Street, Gloucester Cross, Eastgate and the New Inn. From there it continues to Robert Raikes House, Gloucester Docks, Llanthony Warehouse, Llanthony Secunda Priory gatehouse and the Prison gatehouse. This Gloucester version focuses on the people whose labour made the city work: Norman stonemasons, medieval canons, tailors, printers, corn-porters, pin-wire workers and watermen. Hear how fan vaulting, candlelit tailoring, Sunday School teaching, dock labour and Severn traffic shaped the streets between the monuments.
