AudaTours Lancaster Audio Tour: Wages, Warrants and Warehouses
Lancaster Castle, Lancaster, Lancashire, LA1 1JT
Follow a self-guided audio route through Lancaster's streets, from Lancaster Castle down to the quay, with headphones on and the tour cues in the app guiding you between each stop. The walk has 12 stops and takes about 1 hour of audio, or around 2 hours in total including walking.
Start at Lancaster Castle and continue past Castle Parade, the Captured Africans Memorial, Damside Street, Lancaster Priory, the Judges' Lodgings, Castle Hill, the Friends Meeting House, The Storey Institute, Lancaster City Museum, St John the Evangelist's Church, the Custom House and the Maritime Museum, then on to the warehouses and the Lune Mills site. This Lancaster version of Everyday Histories focuses on the people usually left off the plaques: gaolers, customs clerks, cabinet apprentices, dock workers, market sellers and linoleum weavers, alongside the merchants and institutions that shaped the Georgian port town. It is a walk through the working side of Lancaster's prosperity, with stories of courts, quays, workshops, chapels, warehouses and mills stitched together along the route.
