AudaTours Sheffield Audio Tour: Crucible and Hull
Castlegate, Sheffield S3, UK, Sheffield, South Yorkshire, S3 8RD
Put on your headphones and follow the route in the app for a self-guided walk through central Sheffield.
The tour has 16 stops and lasts about 1 hour of audio, or around 2 hours in total with walking time.
It begins in Broomhall and leads you past Sheffield Town Hall, Upper Chapel, Castlegate, Paradise Square, Sheffield Cathedral, Cutlers’ Hall, Tudor Square, Sheffield Central Library, the works yards and chapel sites of the Cultural Industries Quarter, and on to Leah’s Yard at the end. What you hear is an everyday working week built from Sheffield’s cutlery and steel trades: the cutler’s hands, the grinder’s wet wheel, the chapel pews, the court yards, the company halls and the cramped yards of the Little Mesters.
The route ties together carved civic fronts, radical printing, Methodist and Chartist gathering places, crucible-steel ground beneath the city centre, and the restored yard at Leah’s as a living reminder of the craftsmen who made Sheffield’s name.

This is an outdoor, self-guided audio walking tour. The route follows public streets and pavements and does not include access to the interior of any of the sites — they are to be admired from the outside. Please wear comfortable shoes and dress for the weather.
You can start the tour whenever suits you during the festival and pause, resume or revisit it at any point — the route plays at your own pace from your phone. Once redeemed, the tour stays in your AudaTours library so you can come back to it any time. Headphones (or one earbud if walking with a companion) are recommended, and the tour works best in daylight hours.
