Guildford Castle has many stories to tell that many people are not aware of. Pick up a leaflet from the castle keep and follow the self-guided audio tour. Just click on the QR code at each poster and enjoy the story. You will find out how Guildford was besieged during the Magna Carta campaign, how the castle is was the setting for one of the stories of Sir Lancelot in the tales of King Arthur. Discover the palace built by Henry III and hear how Adam de Gurdon was brought to the castle after fighting Prince Edward in an epic dual.

Guildford Castle is situated off Guildford High Street. Go through Tunsgate Arch at opposite the Guildhall with the town clock and walk to the end of the road

Accessibility details

Guildford is on a hill and the High Street has stone setts. From the High Street there is step free access to the Castle but there is one road to cross. Sydenham Road Car Park is nearby and a short walk down hill. The Castle Grounds has many small slopes and one part of the tour crosses a narrow road (Castle Arch) where visitors should be aware of cars coming round the corner to their left has they leave Castle Grounds.
