14 Century ruin set in a 19-acre site, woodland paths, river walks and ponds. Picnic area overlooking the castle monument and benches along river walk. Trails and activities for children. Our 6 Bagot Goats. Reconstructed 18th Century Summerhouse.

A castle lost for hundreds of years: The original building is believed to have been constructed on the site in the 11th century, at the time of King Henry I. The present castle is thought to have been built sometime in the 1380’s by Sir William Bagot a distinguished nobleman of the time. He is thought to have entertained Richard II there. The castle subsequently passed through several hands and eventually became derelict in the 16th Century. A grant was obtained from English Heritage and in November 2011 restoration works were completed to consolidate the remains of the ruin. The Education Visitor Centre was opened in 2013. David Hewer was Custodian from 2005 - 2023 and his hard work and dedication has made Bagot's Castle a special place for visitors today. The castle is now run by Trustees.
