Battle of Northampton Guided Walks

Northamptonshire Battlefields Society will be on the South Lawn at Delapre Abbey to explain this important national event that took place here in Northampton in 1460. The Battle of Northampton on 1th July 1460 was one of the earliest and most critical of the battles between 1455 and 1485 as the Houses of York and Lancaster struggled for the throne. Tours round the battlefield are suitable for all ages and take about an hour. Please note that the tour is not accessible to wheelchair users due to the nature of some of the ground. Find out about the betrayal of a king and the military revolution that started here. Learn how Warwick the "Kingmaker" masterminded the victory that would put Edward IV on the path to the throne. In addition we will have our Society stand with our information and publications, together with a display model to help you understand what really happened. We will be accompanied by members in period costume who will be explaining how a medieval soldier was dressed and armed.
