Bawtry Hall and Gardens Open Day

Bawtry Hall, a Grade II listed building was designed by Architect William Lindley and build between 1780 and 1785.

The country home of wealthy businessman Pemberton Milnes, Wakefield Wool Merchant (He had a town house at 122 Westgate), local magistrate and deputy lieutenant of the West Riding. Following his death in 1785, his only child, daughter Bridgit returned to the house in 1810, following the death of her husband the 4th Viscount Galway of nearby Serlby Hall. The Dowager Viscountess Galway commenced a remodelling of the 9 acres around the Hall to create an extensive parkland up to her death in 1835. it remain in the family ownership until it was bought by George Herbert Peake (later Major Peake) from Retford in the early 1900s.

The building is now used as a Wedding and Function Venue, but is opening especially for Heritage Open Days this year.
