Beauchief Gardens - a guided tour

Beauchief Garden was presented to the City in 1935 by the J. G. Graves Charitable Trust, and designed by E.O. Sadler. It is in a beautiful setting with Ladies Spring Wood and Beauchief Golf Course to the east, Ecclesall Woods to the west, and adjoins the Beauchief Dam to the north, with Abbeydale Industrial Hamlet lying beyond. Despite the fact that the garden lies between Abbeydale Road South and the main railway line between Manchester and Sheffield, the garden remains a source of peace and tranquillity, and has altered little from the original design.

This guided tour will introduce you to what is probably the smallest public garden in the city but which has an important story to tell. You will also learn about plans for the gardens to become the new home for the historic horse trough formerly located at Hunters Bar.
