Behind the Scenes - Derby Local Studies and Family History Tour

Whist the library is open to the public, the collection is held on 'closed access' meaning you cannot browse the shelves. On this tour you will have the opportunity to see the full extent of the collection and how it is stored. You will learn about the work undertaken by library staff and view some of the 'gems' of the collection. You will also get to see areas of the old Magistrates Court building not normally accessible to the public. The building was sympathetically restored in 2014 and represents a fine example of the work of Derby's Borough Architect, Charles Herbert Aslin.

- The library is located on the first floor of Riverside Chambers. The building is at the bottom of Full Street, facing onto the roundabout opposite Derby QUAD and the Council House. Please use the main entrance to Riverside Chambers and come upstairs to the soft seating area and wait to be met by the library team.
