Behind the scenes tour of the Market Theatre, Ledbury
Market Theatre, Market Street, Ledbury, Herefordshire, HR8 2AQ
The current Market Theatre was officially opened on 19 January 2000 and was the first theatre to be opened in the new millennium anywhere in the world. The new building replaced the old Market Theatre on the same site, which was demolished in 1999.
The Market Theatre is owned by Ledbury Amateur Dramatic Society (LADS) and operates as a community theatre space for the benefit of everyone. It is run and maintained entirely by a group of dedicated volunteers. As well as hosting all LADS theatrical productions, the Market Theatre also offers a successful film club, live screenings from national venues, visiting theatrical companies and music events of all genres.
The tour of the theatre will enable visitors to see behind the scenes, including: Sound & Lighting control room, Props & furniture store, Costumes, Dressing Rooms, Rehearsal Space and Scenery Stores. The tour will also take visitors onstage where they can walk around the set of "Into the fire" - a play set in Pompeii. The tour will also include a brief demonstration of lighting and sound effects.
The tours will be run by members of LADs who will be happy to answer any of your questions.
