Bell tower at Bakewell Parish Church

For Heritage Open Days the bell tower will be open from 1400 to 1600 on both Sunday 13th September and Sunday 20th September.

The bell tower of All Saints' Bakewell is a prominent landmark and this is one of the few times in the year when members of the public can gain access to its 58 steps. These steps lead to the 1813 turret clock and you can see the clocks pendulum and weights which drive the time and quarter chimes of the bells. You'll also be able to see how the bells cast in 1895 are rung.

Whilst you cannot climb the ladder to the belfry, there will be a TV screen with a live feed of the bells for you to watch.

Entry is by the tower door on the north eastern corner (outside) of the church.

It will be well signposted and many visitors can be accommodated. If it gets busy in the tower then visitors may be asked to wait at the bottom to make sure the tower is not overcrowded.

No booking is required: turn up on the day & perhaps include a tour of the Church and museum!
