Named after its first owner, the house was built in 1847 in Brighton's North Laine. It is furnished with antiques from the first half of the 19th century and contains many paintings and a collection of Brighton prints.

The house was used for the press release of Heritage Open Days in 2009 and features in Ellie Seymour's Secret Brighton and Andrew Kershman's Walking Brighton and Hove. Unless they have exhibited a passion for Sir John Soane's Museum, the house is unlikely to appeal to children. Stairs are involved during the tour which lasts about an hour.
