Find out about Berwick's history in its Visitor Centre sited in a former Methodist Church. As well as its usual displays on Berwick, see an exhibition of images of Berwick in the 1990s. There are definitely some changes !

Originally there were two Methodist Chapels in Berwick - Primitive and Wesleyan. This building was the Wesleyan Methodist Chapel which was opened in 1797 with alterations made in 1878. In the early 1920s both congregations amalgamated and worshipped together here until 2017 when it was sold. The building was reopened as a Visitor Centre in 2019.

Accessibility details

No disabled access at present to the first floor but there is lots to see on the ground floor. The images in the exhibition upstairs will be available to view on a screen downstairs.

Additional information

There will be other churches open nearby on particular days in the Festival period - see other entries. If you are interested in photography, there will be a Camera Club exhibition on 13 - 14 September and an exhibition in the Town Hall - 20 - 21 September.
