Join a fascinating tour of this important Civil War battlefield

To celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Register of Historic Battlefields in England the Battlefields Trust and its partner organisations are arranging a series of battlefield walks in September 2025 to coincide with Heritage Open Days.

Come and join the Battlefields Trust to explore the English Civil War battle which took place on Hopton Heath in 1643. Tickets are limited to 30 people.

The circular route of about 3km will take about two to two and a half hours and finish back at the Village Hall, Salt. Mainly along good footpaths, some uneven tracks and fields, stiles and steep slope. Sturdy footwear recommended. Thanks to Salt Village Hall, toilet facilities will be available at start and end of walk. There is only limited parking at the village hall, but parking is available on the main village road if done carefully and considerately.
